This independent mercenary has more history on the field of battle than most, piloting a strange looking reverse-legged craft. His favored combat strategy is to snipe from the air or from concealed locations to catch his opponents off guard.
Patch the Good Luck appears as an enemy during the mission Defeat Unknown NEXT+No Count, hired by Buppa Zu Gan to assist ORCA. During the mission, he is shown to be reluctant and distrustful of ORCA's intentions stating that he wants no trouble from them. Along with Buppa Zu Gan and PQ, he is ambushed and overwhelmed by Strayed. Bearing witness the defeat of both his fellow ORCA associates, he surrenders to his enemies and begs for their mercy. His fate is left unknown as he can either be spared by Strayed or destroyed. Should Patch the Good Luck have been spared, it is likely that he fled to safety and survived the ensuing series of events.
NEXT No CountEdit
His NEXT, No Count, is a strange looking reverse-joint craft designed by Kamisori Johnny specifically for long-range sniping from the air; it also employs ECM, making it easier for him to attack from concealed locations. A lightweight unit, it nevertheless uses a heavyweight SUNSHINE core. This design choice may be good for its ballistic defense, but it trades off some of the maneuverability that reverse-jointed ACs are known for.
Thanks to No Count's low ammo count on both his sniper rifle and laser rifle, low damage per second output as well as being quite cumbersome for a lightweight, No Count is one of the easier opponents around. His laser rifle and sniper rifle combined may add up some damage, but is nevertheless quite weak overall. He only rarely use his AS Missile, so don't worry too much.
Interestingly, during the mission in which No Count appears, it is actually unnecessary to fight him at all. If the player ignores him and instead goes after Buppa Zu Gan, Patch will immediately cease fire upon his consort's defeat, and begs for mercy. If the player then waits without attacking, he'll Overboost out of the arena, resulting in a Mission Complete. The same cannot be said for Hard Mode however, as Patch will continue fighting even when his consorts are destroyed. Nevertheless, Patch is the weakest link of the trio and it is highly advisable to destroy No Count first before tackling other NEXTs; not the least due to prevent him from using his ECMs.
No Count is no harder than in the Order Matches. However, since you are dealing with multiple NEXTs, concentrating on No Count will be slightly tricky. Thankfully, No Count is placed at the front most junction, and will almost always jump up and fly. Engage him with whatever you have, but make sure to neutralize him first.
- I get it, I get it. Let's get this over with. Remember your promise Buppa Zu Gan. I don't want any trouble.

- The name No Count is actually a borrowed English phrase used in Japanese to denote something that "didn't count", as in a bet or an action that did not count. While the US version translates Patch's plea for ceasefire as an identifying call ("This is No Count, come in!"), the Japanese phrase was more to the effect of "That last attack didn't count!" As such, this complements the "gambler" theme that Patch has.
- Patches the Hyena in FROM Software-developed game Demon's Souls may or may not be a reference this Lynx. Both are cowardly, uses ambushes, and are quick to grovel when placed at a disadvantage. A line from Patches also mentions that he himself is "lucky", and by staying near him, his luck will rub off on the player.
- No Count's emblem, a die, contains a rather unsettling feature. The die is set with the three to the left, six on the top, and five to the right. However, bullet holes pockmark the die, three on the left and one on the right, leaving one to assume the die has rolled to six-six-six.
- Originally, Patch was suppose to be replaced by PQ when the difficulty is set to hard mode. This mechanic however was not added probably due to the unchanged difficulties and not leaving enough pressure for both the Player AC and the hired ally mercenary.
