"Greetings.....!" - Karata

Karata is a Migrant who appears in Armored Core V.

Information[]

A migrant encountered in Armored Core V's Order Missions, Karata appears as the main enemy of Order Mission 48. He pilots the AC, Fu-Dou.

Overview[]

Encountered in Order Mission 48 at the Executive Sector, Karata is a man of few words, who politely greets his opponents, although often underestimates them before the battle. His AC, Fu-Dou, is a high-AP, anti-TE medium-weight bipedal with a dark grey-red colouration with an emblem emblazened with a martial artist motif.

AC Fu-Dou[]

In-game Information: A medium-weight, bipedal AC with flash mobility that specializes in close-range combat. Uses a battle rifle and handgun to unleash intense fire as its first form of attack. Not suited for long-range combat because it is not equipped with weapons that have a long range of fire.

Fu-Dou is a grey/red mid-weight bipedal composed mostly of TE parts. Due to this configuration, it has increased anti-TE capabilities, but it sacrifices anti-KE performance as a result. Unlike most bipedals of the same weight category, Fu-Dou is equipped with powerful boosters to compensate for its heavier weight. It comes equipped with two separate battle rifles and a set of burst-fire handguns for effective stopping power.

Strategy[]

A rather mediocre AC when compared to others found in the Order Missions, Fu-Dou is a bit of a low-lying star, but do not be fooled: he is quite powerful in his right, and will not hesitate to plant the scrapped corpses of his enemy's AC's into the ground if he needs to.

The fight takes place in the Executive Sector, near the central river. The player takes their position on the side of the river towards the main traffic bridge, with Fu-Dou close towards the forked road and scaffold platforms. Fu-Dou will charge straight ahead to the player's position in anticipation for a head-to-head shootout as soon as he is ready.

Caution is advised however: as at this point in the game, the player may not have reached Team Level 50, which will leave them somewhat vulnerable in a damage race. Fu-Dou comes equipped with a PODENKA and UBR-05 battle rifle, as well as the GINESTRA and SOPHORA burst-fire handguns. While these weapons may not seem powerful, they work rather well, as Fu-Dou will often swap out his weapons to variate the damage output.

Fu-Dou's durability against KE is fairly average, but cannot negate the damage of even the weakest (in terms of base attack power) of the sniper rifle class of weapons, leaving him susceptible to having his armor compromised by these weapons. His CE and TE defenses are rather low as well, although his resistance to TE (at 1136) will buff out all pulse-machine gun damage. Therefore weapons such as battle rifles, HEAT Howitzers, CE missiles (short-range, medium, AS and stealth), HEAT rockets, rocket launchers, pulse guns, laser rifles, laser blades, physical blades, HEAT piles, bombs and energy amplifiers will prove very effective against him.

The player must be cautious however, as Fu-Dou will abuse the use of boost charge in extreme CQC, and his legs (being the ULG-11 RAINIER) will take a large chunk of AP if such an attack connects. Stay at range and whittle own his AP with a variety of different damage all at once.

If the player is lucky, they may wish to try and knick him wit a laser blade or a boost-charge to ensure their win, or use dual-piles for a quick, one-shot kill.

Use the buildings for both cover an an altitude advantage, raining high-power death from the sky. if you manage to compromise his armor (large spray of metal shrapnel) this makes the fight a lot less stressful, as he will take an additional 255 extra damage from all sources (regardless of which weapon) and he will fall far quicker should this occur.

Trivia[]

  • His AC commonly uses boost charge kicks to an AC, In this manner; he's mirroring a fighting style similar to that of Karate, evidently proven by his emblem and polite greetings to the Mercenary.
