Briefing[]

Let's confirm the mission.

Intercept the Maghrib Liberation Front's ground transport convoy and destroy the Armored Core belonging to their Irregular NEXT - Amazigh, the "Desert Wolf."

By taking on a lethal amount of psychic stress, Amazigh has achieve a degree of control over his Armored Core far beyond the limits of his minimal AMS compatibility.

You're dealing with someone anti-establishment groups across White Africa consider a hero. He's too dangerous to face in conventional combat.

Amazigh's NEXT, Barbaroi, is based as a lightweight Eqbal standard Armored Core. It's defenses should be minimal. Take it out before it can be activated.

Special Debriefing[]

Amazigh had been working alone for some time. He didn't want to contaminate his Maghrib comrades.

A hero... Maybe so. He may have taken it all upon himself from the very start.

Overview[]

The mission is to defeat the Barbaroi, which will arrive at the combat area inactive on the back of a flatbed truck, and the player's objective is to inflict as much damage as possible before it can be brought online. If the player's total AP drops below a certain amount, Joshua O'Brien will come to their aid.

Hard Mode Differences: Not only does Barbaroi activate outside of combat range, but it is revealed that Joshua O'Brien has been hired by the Maggrib Liberation Front to assist Amazigh, and the player must fight two NEXTs.

Walkthrough[]

Unlike most NEXT battles, this mission is based upon ambushing Barbaroi before it can be activated. Because of this, there is no particular method to taking him out, other than being sure he is destroyed before he is activated. On hard mode, the player must fight two NEXTs, which can become complicated. The simple way to do this is to use long range weaponry and FCS and hit Barbaroi as quickly and as much as possible, and then turn their attention to White Glint, who arrives a short time afterward, and finish him by conventional means, usually dual assault rifles.

Alternately, a highly mobile AC with maxed boosters and generator at the level of tech available when fighting him, along with a sword and laser rifle, can take out Barbaroi in less than 60 seconds using boosting to simply keep him in the player's sights, three good swings of the sword at point blank range prior to activation, and use of the laser rifle at medium range from higher altitude than Barbaroi to keep him easy to spot.
