Aabye is a Lynx appearing in Armored Core 4. He is ranked as the #11 Original and is considered one of Rayleonard's primary NEXT pilots. While skillful, his blatant disregard for discipline or teamwork has forced Rayleonard to limit his action on the battlefield.

BiographyEdit

Aabye is one of the higher ranking Originals appearing during the Lynx War. His ferocious, almost reckless nature as a pilot has helped him work his way to the very top echelon of Lynx pilots. His style of combat however, has disregarded the safety of his allies. The few instances where Rayleonard unleashed this Original were most likely solo missions where he could fight to the best of his ability.

PersonalityEdit

Known for his infamously powerful NEXT, Aabye's strengths could very well be considered his weaknesses. Over the course of his many victories as a pilot, he has developed a brash and reckless personality. Rather than analyzing the situation clearly, he enters the battlefield ready to destroy everything in his path. Railing against all forms of discipline, he has acquired a reputation for being incredibly difficult to work with and control. In order to best manage his abilities, Rayleonard uses him for battles where discretion is of little importance.

NEXT Memento MoriEdit

NEXT Memento Mori

NEXT Memento Mori

Aabye's NEXT, Memento Mori is a lightweight 03-AALIYAH model painted with a unique blood-red scheme. The unit has been constructed for fast paced combat, featuring dual 03-MOTORCOBRA machine guns and a back-mounted SULTAN plasma cannon. This arsenal enables Aabye to close in on enemies and unleash large amounts of damage in a short period of time. In order to achieve this offensive style, Memento Mori sacrifices its defense, making it easier to disable.

StrategyEdit

Because of his emphasis in speed and power, it is best to use tactics that slow or stop Memento Mori, such as bazookas, or to use tactics that fit him, close range combat is quite effective when it comes down to him, you, and a shipload of grenades, just make sure he doesn't have much space for evasive movement.

PartsEdit

GameplayEdit

In-Game InformationEdit

  • In-Game Biography
    • Though Rayleonard's primary force, this infamously powerful Original sees limited action because his reckless use of firepower often affects allies as well as foes.

EtymologyEdit

  • The name Aabye is Danish in origin, and is most likely a reference to Søren Aabye Kierkegaard, a philosopher, theologian and religious author. He is widely considered to be the first existentialist philosopher.
  • The word Memento Mori the name of Aabye's NEXT translates in Latin to "remember that you can die". Memento Mori is the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.

TriviaEdit

  • Hari's NEXT in Armored Core: For Answer, Krasnaya, bears a striking resemblance to Aabye's; Krasnaya is an AALIYAH based AC that bears the same color scheme (though the parts that were gold on Memento Mori are colored silver), and both pilots dual wield their weapons of choice. Hari and Aabye also have similar character profiles that describe both of them as having a history of causing massive casualties in a short amount of time and both seeing limited deployment in battle (though Hari's is attributed to being due to his unique AMS compatibility, while Aabye is notorious for indiscriminately killing his allies alongside his enemies). It should also be noted that neither Lynx is actually met in the story missions of their respective games, appearing exclusively in the Simulator/Order Matches.
  • One theory is that he may also have been part of Berlioz's elite squad, but was killed in action before the player arrives. This would explain his absence in For Answer and why the player never fights him.
